California will prioritise funding sustainable transportation projects as part of a new climate action strategy

The California State Transportation Agency has announced the draft Climate Action Plan for Transportation Infrastructure outlines key investment strategies for investing billions of discretionary transportation dollars annually to strongly combat and adapt to climate change while supporting public health, safety and equity. The Action Plan was produced over 16 months through the efforts of dozens of representatives across 10 state agencies and countless local and regional agencies, advocacy groups, and community-based organizations.

This draft plan has ten guiding principles, some of which are oriented to fulfill  transport decarbonisation actions such as investing in networks of safe and accessible bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, Include investments in light-, medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicle infrastructure, and developing a zero-emission freight transportation system.

California is aware that the transportation sector is the largest contributor to the climate crisis and that is the reason why today it has worked on a  climate action plan for transportation Infrastructure.

California continues being a role model for others when the time to implement initiatives pro transport decarbonisation comes.
