Luxembourg’s INTERREG MMUST project

The Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) conducted an extensive mobility poll, which included about 57,000 participants in Luxembourg, Belgium and France. The results bring up the fact that 66% of this mobility is done by car, one-fifth on foot and only every tenth trip takes place by public transport.

An average of 4.7 million movements is recorded in the Greater Region between Luxembourg, Belgium, and France on a daily basis. This equals about four movements per person, considering that 1.7 million people live in said region.

These results contribute to the development of the  INTERREG MMUST project (MUltimodal model and Cross-border mobility scenarios) that is intended to develop a multimodal model of travel in the cross-border area around the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, study area thus including the North-Lorraine, the Province of Luxembourg in Belgium and all of Luxembourg.

This project aims to provide decision support and to the evaluation of transport policies in favor of a sustainable cross-border mobility in the heart of the Grande. The region, between Belgium, Luxembourg and France.
