TARGETS AND ACTIONS ON TRANSPORT DECARBONISATION

Maputo is the capital and largest city of the East African country Mozambique. It has over 1.1 million inhabitants and it had one the first electric tram systems in Africa, starting operation in 1904. There is a comprehensive urban transport master plan for the Greater Maputo region covering public transport network development and road improvements in support of a general city’s master plan. The city has the vision to develop a “socially and environmentally sustainable urban transport systems facilitating the international gateway capital”.
