Alstom provides modern, comfortable and sustainable regional transportation in Italy
Continuing with its objective of leading societies to a low carbon future, Alstom has recently signed a contract with FERROVIENORD to supply 20 regional trains intended for the regional railway service of the Region of Lombardy in Italy for a total value of €125 million.
The single-deck electric trains, besides being comfortable and modern, are also sustainable. They are 96% recyclable and consume 30% less energy than the generations before. Michele Viale, Managing Director of Alstom Italy, has said that this new generation of Coradia Steam trains is the best solution to satisfy the transportation needs of the region’s travelers and the operator.
The experience of getting on a train like this will be quite comfortable. A passenger can see that the interior and seating arrangements can be changed to suit diverse needs, such as more seats on longer routes or optimised standing space for shorter journeys. The interiors can be adapted to suit particular requirements: bike racks, drinks, and snack dispensers, among others for instance, can easily be added. And the best feature: they also satisfy strict criteria of environmental sustainability, ensuring comfort, safety and reduction in carbon emissions, making them a perfect mode of transport.
The introduction of these trains in the market is a step forward towards a cleaner environment.
