The Transport Decarbonisation Alliance (TDA) was launched in 2018 as a unique collaboration to accelerate the worldwide transformation of the transport sector towards a net-zero emission mobility system before 2050. The TDA is part of the 12 commitments made at the One Planet Summit hosted by President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, France in December 2017. The Transport Decarbonisation Alliance – a ‘coalition of the willing’ to decarbonise transport
The TDA brings together countries, cities, regions and companies, as the major drivers in sustainable, low carbon mobility.
California has been chairing the TDA since October 2021

OBJECTIVES
The TDA brings together countries, cities, regions and companies, as the major drivers in sustainable, low carbon mobility. The TDA seeks to achieve the following:
1. Substantiated, scaled-up ambition for the transport sector: designing a common vision for ‘front-runners’
2. Tangible action: setting up countries, cities, regions and companies ‘Communities of Interest’
3. Effective advocacy: influencing political decision-makers in key international fora on climate change (e.g. UNFCCC), sustainable development (e.g. UN High Level Political Forum – SDGs), international political processes (e.g. EU, G7, G20, B20) and through bilateral dialogues.
GOVERNANCE
The TDA is managed by a Steering Committee where countries, cities, regions and companies are represented, and oversee the alliance’s direction and guidelines for action as agreed in the TDA Annual meeting.
The current chair of the TDA is Ms. Liane Randolph, California Air Board Resources Chair, who will be chairing the TDA to 2023. She took over the role from Stientje van Veldhoven, outgoing Minister for the Environment of the Netherlands, who served as the TDA Chair from June 2018 to October 2021.
