The City of Los Angeles, California, developed from October 2013 to March 2023 the Blue LA electric car sharing project. It gives residents access to affordable electric vehicle car sharing.

This initiative includes construction and installation of 100 carshare stations with 500 charge points and operation of an electric vehicle carshare program with 300 electric vehicles in disadvantaged communities, all within the City of Los Angeles. While integrating the EV carshare program as a viable public transportation option for all Angelenos, the program’s success will help provide a model for future low-income transportation programs.

Through an upcoming expansion, the program will also include a fleet of at least 600 electric bicycles or scooters.
