Brisa commits to reducing CO2 emissions by 60% by 2030
António Pires de Lima has announced that Brisa’s new strategic plan, which should be known by the summer, will approve as a management objective the reduction of 60% of CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions by the highway concessionaire by 2030.
Brisa will assume the commitment to achieve a zero emission by 2045, that is, five years before the deadline imposed at European level.
What motivated Brisa to make this decision is the global climate situation, which has been increasing importantly in the last years. It will be a big challenge having in mind that a significant percentage of greenhouse gas emissions are caused by the transport sector, which translates in the mobility of people, but the company wants to make it a priority.
Brisa, together with other organisations in Portugal, are truly aware that it is important to take actions and that all efforts will be rewarded. In the next decade, the company wants to substantially reduce the carbon footprint of mobility.
