Costa Rica goes for Light Electric Vehicles implementation

With the aim of accelerating the transition to light electric vehicles for commercial use in Costa Rica, the Technological Institute of Costa Rica (TEC) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) launched a plan that will run light electric vehicles of light load in three Costa Rican companies.

The project consists of determining the technical-financial impact of replacing the current fleet of light-duty vehicles, which uses internal combustion engines for propulsion, with a fleet of electric vehicles through a pre-feasibility study.

In addition, the plan considers the environmental impact of the two types of vehicles, internal combustion and electric, in order to compare CO2 emissions, taking into account the consumption of fossil fuels and electricity.
