Costa Rica’s Andrea Meza in the spotlight in the latest TDA Fireside Chat

H. E. Ms. Andrea Meza Murillo, Minister of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica, joined us for the TDA’s latest Fireside Chat series. She highlighted Costa Rica’s transport decarbonisation initiatives and national priorities. Some of the initiatives that the Minister mentioned were:

– The creation of a Unit within the Ministry of Transport for sustainable mobility to support municipalities in the transitioning process towards sustainable means of transport
– The implementation of new infrastructure for bike lanes
– The launch of laws with incentives for the electrification of the transport of the private fleet
– A pilot project for the electrification of buses

Besides the efforts mentioned above, Costa Rica is also really committed to consolidating the implementation of an electric train in the early future.

For the minister, actions have been taken place in the country and even when there is still a lot to achieve,  Costa Rica has chosen the right way, towards transport decarbonisation.
