Scotland’s investment in decarbonisation is on the go!
Ms. Jenny Gilruth, Transport Minister of Scotland, and Mr. Alex Hynes, Managing director of Scotland’s Railway, expressed their excitement that the first phase of construction to electrify the rail section between Haymarket and Dalmeny in Scotland has already started.
This estimated £55 million project, developed by Transport Scotland and Network Rail, got underway in June 2022 and is expected to be completed by December 2024.
This initiative will make a significant difference to passenger and freight services. It will also contribute to the implementation of Scotland’s Rail Decarbonisation Action Plan, which seeks the removal of all diesel-fueled passenger services by 2035.
Bringing the benefits of electrification to communities across Scotland will help respond to the urgent need to decarbonise the transportation sector.
