TARGETS AND ACTIONS ON TRANSPORT DECARBONISATION
The Municipality of Matosinhos has developed the Sustainable Energy Action Plan with a CO2 emissions reduction target of at least 21% by 2020, through improved energy efficiency and the greater use of renewable energy sources. Actions towards the target include efficient and electric vehicles; fleet renovation; improvement of the transports network; and soft mobility.
The municipal government has joined the Covenant of Mayors in 2010 as well as the Compact of Mayors, Covenant of Mayors for Climate (October 2015). It has also elaborated the Municipal Adaptation Strategies for Climate Change to be concluded in August 2018.

- The Municipality of Matosinhos is implementing a project with the objective of creating a living lab oriented to the decarbonization of the economy and society.
- Other solutions are: electric vehicles fast charging stations, bike-sharing and bike-parking stations, buildings energy efficiency monitoring, etc.
