Luxembourg's Airport will invest in sustainable aviation fuel
Luxembourg recently launched Lux-Airport’s plan to invest in the production of sustainable aviation fuel, derived from renewable sources.
After achieving “carbon neutral” certification (level 3+) by the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACI), Lux-Airport will expand its environmental commitment by investing in the production of e-Fuels, an important component of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), to comply with the “Fit for 55” guidelines of the European Commission.
With this investment, lux-Airport joins four partners, including Sunfire, Climeworks, Valinor, and Paul Wurth, to boost the production of e-Fuels, a sustainable type of SAF.
Contributing to the EU’s “Fit for 55” target is one of the key elements of Lux-Airport’s sustainability initiatives. The certification the airport received from the ACI Airport Carbon Accreditation program in March 2022 demonstrates the success of the coordinated effort of the airport’s key stakeholders.
